Christmas is in the Air!!

Ok, not really... It's 90 degrees outside, here in SW Florida and the air conditioner just keeps running.  But that hasn't stopped me from making some Christmas Cards!!

I used Martha Stewart punch for the packages in the background, Season's Greetings was cut with Winter Wonderland Cricut Cartridge and the package was cut with Joys of the Season Cricut Cartridge and embossed with Diamonds in Diamonds embossing folder.

Thank you for looking!

Its Party Time!!

I had a bunch of extra Create A Critter cuts, so I put a few of them together for this card.  The hats are premade by K & Co.  Enjoy!!  This one brings a smile to my face every time I look at it.

Owl in the family

Ok, the title is kind of corny, but I like how the card turned out.  This was made from the Cricut Lite Hoot 'n' Holler cartridge.

Halloween Haunted House

Halloween is not my most favorite holiday, so I have moved on to Christmas.  Before I did, I assembled one more Happy Hauntings 3D House.  I love the concept, but putting this together was a bear.

Spooky Halloween

I finally started making Halloween cards!  Now I hope I get them mailed before Halloween!

Tombstone and Gate are from October 31 solution cartridge
Background done by inking Skeleton Scroll Cuttlebug folder
Martha Stewart punch for the grass
Spooky was cut from 3 Birds on Parade
Glitter  - Martha Stewart glow in the dark glitter
This card looks even better with the lights out!

In the midst of chaos comes organization?

I'm getting a new crafting room!!!  My husband and I used to share an office but now I get my own space!  I'm in the midst of moving to my new digs and its utter chaos!  I was on the phone with mom tonight and she wanted to know how I stored my Cricut manuals, so this post is for her.  PLEASE ignore the background mess as I didn’t quite get done with the move today.  Will post pics of the finished product, but here’s a small sampling…

She also had the brilliant suggestion of taking out the pages with other languages!  I could probably hold double the number of manuals if I did that!

This is the system that works for me because I design with the Gypsy and don't ever need the actual keypad cover, cartridge or box.  They are all in storage under the stairs.

Caught Me!

I missed another friend's birthday.  This is the card I made, but I can't decide on a saying for the inside.  I know how creative all of you are, so if you have ideas, I'd love suggestions!!

Drinks Anyone?

I made this card to invite a friend that I haven't seen for awhile out for drinks.  Martini Glasses were cut with From My Kitchen, background paper is from Creative Imaginations.

Hello Kitty Birthday

Ok, it's not a Halloween creation yet, but I swear I'm getting closer!!!  This was a card that I made for a friend's birthday.  Used the Happy Birthday Cuddlebug embossing folder for the background.
Some exciting additions are coming soon, so stick with me!!  We'll have Blog Candy, new projects, videos and Gypsy cut files for the projects displayed.

Challenge Response

From winter to spring.  Can't explain how that happened, but in response to a challenge on CardzTV I created the cards below.  The challenge was to put up the Cricut and make a card using patterned paper.  This is the paper that I was inspired by:

Unfortunately, I couldn't remember who issued the challenge, so I didn't submit anything, but at least I made them!  Now, when Easter/Spring rolls around, I'll have 2 cards ready!  Now if I could just get myself to make some Halloween cards!

Polishing the Silver

Ok, usually I post the cards, canvas or layouts that I have made, but I had to share this.  I was reading U is for Undertow by Sue Grafton and early in the book one of the characters was working in the kitchen polishing the silver.  The recipe givent in the book was to take an 8 quart pot of water with crumpled up aluminum foil in the bottom, once the water is up to a rolling boil, add 1/4 cup of baking soda.

I live in Florida and all of my silver jewelry tarnishes almost instantly and I can't keep up with my silver polishing cloth.  So I spent the afternoon boiling my jewelry with the recipe above and I can't believe how easy it was and how amazing it all turned out!!!

Have a moo-velous day!

I made this card as a pick-me-up for a friend. I used the Create a Critter and the Punny-licious stamps from My Pink Stamper for the saying. Posting has proven that I need to get better at picture-taking... Hmm... Maybe a I need a new camera?? Wonder what my DH would say?

It's Time to Chill Out

Here in SW Florida it is finally getting down into the 60's at night and occationally we get to open the windows.  The oppressive heat of summer has backed off and now I remember why I live here.  To celebrate, I got in the spirit of Chilling Out and made the below card.
This was made with Simply Charmed with the Penguins cut at 3.5" and I used the Martha Stewart Icicle punch for the paper at the top.  And because I failed to plan ahead, I punched white paper and then ran it through the Xyron and covered it with glitter instead of remembering to use glitter paper to begin with.  OOPS.  :)

Cute Chick

I made this card as a Thank You to my Mom who sent me all kinds of fun treats for my birthday, one being the 3 Birds on Parade Cartridge that I used to make this card. Hope she gets it in the mail before she sees it here!

I couldn't find the perfect bird so I used the skirt from the princess bird, the suitcase from the travel bird and the actual bird is the one holding the string of Christmas Lights.  I gave her eyeshadow with some Smooch.

Honey, It's Been Too Long!

It's been WAAAY too long since I've last posted. I went over to a friend's house early last week and took some pictures of DELICIOUS chocolate that we ate (see pic below the project) and left my camera!!! It took me a whole week before we were able to connect to get it back! Here is the first card that I made with the Sentimentals Cricut Cartridge and the coordinating Cuttlebug embossing folder. I used Core'dinations Card Stock and sanded for the bees in the background.

And here is a pic of the chocolate that was totally worth losing my camera for a week!

Color for the Craft Room

I made this canvas to hang in my scrapbook room.  I used Summer In Paris Cricut Cartridge on a 12x12 Canvas that I painted with acrylic paints.  I used black glitter on the chandelier and then Mod Podge to seal the whole thing.

Canvas the Neighborhood!

The last couple of days I have been working on canvas.
Supplies:
Acrylic paints
Prima Flowers
Tattered Angels Glimmer

I painted the background and the branch and adorned with flowers colored by Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and brads for centers.

Manly Birthday Greetings

This was a specific card with an inside joke included.  I LOVE how the background turned out.  My mom made this with a Cuttlebug embossing folder with either metallic paper or aluminum foil mounted to cardstock. We used the truck in the Just Because Cards Cricut Cartridge and cut off the supports on the truck bed.

Pizza Party

Yesterday Simply Charmed came in the mail and I couldn't wait to play.  I cut out so many pieces, but this is what I have assembled so far.  Now I guess I need to plan a Pizza Party because the invites are too cute! The picure hardly does this justice as the pizza is SO CUTE in person!!

I used the Hide Contour feature on the Gypsy as I didn't want the cute face on the pizza.  I also cut out extra toppings as I can never be satisfied with the standard pizza toppings!!

Hoo's Having a Birthday?

My husband is horrible at remembering dates, so I'm fortunate that his mother and I share the same birthday.  This way he only has to remember two dates to keep out of trouble, September 19th and our anniversary which is the day after his birthday.  We like to keep things simple.  That being said, my mother-in-law's birthday is coming up soon, so I made this 5x7 card.
I used the Cricut Lite Hoot 'n' Holler for all elements on this card.

Destinations Card

I made this card for my mother-in-law after a fun trip to Epcot.  I used the Destinations Cricut Cartridge and the suitcase was made wtih Cricut Summer Vacation.

You're a Hoot! Card

I looked to my recent trip to Nashville and time in the country for the inspiration for this card.  I LOVE the Create a Critter Cartridge!!  I set up entire cut files on my Gypsy with nothing but critters and then I store them until inspiration strikes.  I went to my cache of tiny friends to create this card.

Materials:
Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge
Wood Grain Embossing Folder (Sizzix, Tim Holtz)
Paper from Stampin Up!

I had so much fun creating this card!  Enjoy!

After a brief sabbatical...

So, I have returned; rested, relaxed and refreshed.  But still no clearer as to the direction that my life is going to turn.  However, I have not been idle.  I have spent two weeks in Nashville, TN visiting my parents, making cards and looking for work.  Hopefully all was productive.

From the Beginning

So here I sit freshly unemployed, like so much of America.  Time to figure out what to do next.  I heard a phrase several years back "in the weeds" to illustrate an idea of "falling behind", "overwhelmed", or "not able to keep up".  That's a little how I feel.  So while I focus on the search for a new professional life, I've decided to try to pursue some personal interests as well.

I follow other people's blogs, check out pictures they've posted, things they have made, thoughts that they have had and I feel a little like a voyeur.  It's time to get in the game and participate.  I have no experience, no idea what I'm going to do, but I'm going to go confidently in the direction of...

More to come.
